Please join us for our trip to New York City, New York on December 4-8, 2017.  We will be staying at Edison Hotel all four nights, right in the heart of Times Square.  There will be plenty of time for holiday shopping at places that are unique to New York City.  While enjoying our stay in NYC, we will have a guide show us all the special tree decorations; attend a Broadway musical; attend the Christmas Spectacular at Radio City Music Hall and enjoy a night out for dinner.  Check out the details below.

A Registration form can be downloaded here and mailed with your $200 deposit to Ken Hayes with address as listed on the Registration Form.  Make your plans now to travel with us this Christmas season!

December 4th

Buses will be waiting for the first pick-up at Trading Ford Baptist Church, 3600 Long Ferry Rd, Salisbury, NC at 5:45 a.m.  The second pickup will be at Village Inn Event Center, Clemmons, NC at 6:30 a.m. Our destination is Hotel Edison in New York City at 228 W. 47th Street near Times Square.

With its superb location near Times Square, the Hotel Edison is also near the Empire State Building and Macy’s, the largest department store in the world. A short walk up Broadway will find you in the heart of the Garment District and a shopper’s paradise. The lights of Broadway and the thrills of Times Square are just two  blocks from the hotel.

After arrival, your evening is free to relax, unpack and enjoy dinner at your leisure.

December 5th

On Tuesday morning, an expert step-on guide, Hardy Phippen, will introduce you to Christmas in New York City.  We will learn about the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree, the history of the site and how the tree is chosen each year. We will learn about other holiday and seasonally decorated displays throughout the city, including Brookfield Place across from the WTC/911 Memorial, a tree outside the NY Stock Exchange, and a special annual light show at the Time Warner Center at Columbus Circle, as well as several holiday markets located in Grand Central Terminal, behind the public library and Fifth Avenue.  Throughout the tour, we will also see the iconic NY sites like the Empire State Building, Madison Square at the Flatiron Building and Federal Hall National Memorial on Wall Street.

The afternoon is free for exploring the city at your own pace, including shopping.  We will meet for dinner at Buca di Beppo Italian Restaurant in Times Square for great Italian food and fun! Buca offers family-style dining in an eclectic, vintage setting.

December 6th

Enjoy a free morning and afternoon on Wednesday. Perhaps marvel at the intricate winter scenes in department store windows along Fifth Avenue. Lord and Taylor, Saks Fifth Avenue, Barney’s, Macy’s, Bloomingdale’s, and Bergdorf Goodman represent some of the world finest shopping.

On Wednesday evening, we’ll attend the Broadway Play at Schoenfeld Theatre on 45th Street, Come From Away.  Based on the true story of when the isolated community of Gander, Newfoundland played host to the world when 38 planes, carrying thousands of people from across the globe, were diverted to Gander’s air strip on September 11, 2001. Undaunted by culture clashes and language barriers, the people of Gander cheered the stranded travelers with music, an open bar and the recognition that we’re all part of a global family.

December 7th

Thursday morning and afternoon are yours to savor the many delights of the city. Perhaps visit NBC’s “Today Show” early and have the opportunity for an “Ambush Makeover” on Kathie Lee & Hoda Show, or take the ferry to the Statue of Liberty.

Our final evening in New York City will be highlighted with the performance of the Christmas Spectacular at Radio City Music Hall, starring the internationally-acclaimed Rockettes.

December 8th

After a fun-filled and exciting visit to NYC, sit back and enjoy a relaxing ride home. We should arrive in Winston-Salem by 8:00 p.m.
